Gravel Rides
We are riding again!
The VeloPigs’ riding season is usually from March through mid-December (our calendar); the dates and start times depend on the weather and other factors. Our Saturday club rides start from Plum Grove Cyclery in downtown Leesburg, VA. Please see the FAQs for more information about the rides and much more.
Contact our Facebook or Strava group pages for ride information, specifically last-minute ride updates related to weather or location changes.
To learn about bicycle laws and riding safely, see the FAQ titled, “What are the Virginia bicycle laws, and how can I learn more about bicycle safety?”
Help Us Share the Love of Gravel Biking
The VeloPigs is a community of gravel cyclists who share a love for adventurous and challenging rides (and beer) in Loudoun County and other Northern Virginia areas. We offer year-round club rides, organize groups to attend local gravel event rides, and support each other as we pursue our cycling goals.
Our members have a broad range of cycling interests, from gravel and mountain biking to road riding. Some of our members race and compete in ultra-endurance events to prepare for their first century. All ride abilities are welcome to join.
The Virginia Department of Transportation’s current inventory shows a little over 15,000 miles of gravel has these gravel routes. Most of our group rides start from the Loudoun County High School or Plum Grove Cyclery in Leesburg, VA.
PLEASE NOTE: Although we do not want to leave anyone behind on these rides, we encourage you to show up to these rides on time and with the right fitness level out of respect for your fellow riders. We don’t want people waiting around for lengthy periods in cold and sometimes very wet weather. A few minutes here and there is not a big deal, but waiting 20-30 minutes for regroups is where folks start to get cranky because they didn’t have their Snickers Bar.
